How to Produce Custom Monoclonal Antibodies

Antibodies are critical tools used in most basic and translational research. Finding the right antibodies among thousands of available commercial products can be challenging. Using custom-produced antibodies can save time and money while improving reagent qualification, method validation, and achieving consistent and reproducible results.

Antibody custom monoclonal antibodies is a long process with numerous steps that require time and resources. One of the first steps is to find a laboratory animal that can be immunized with specific antigens. This is an expensive step that involves several weeks of searching for the right lab animal and acquiring the antigens.

This is an important step because if the antibodies do not have the desired characteristics, they can negatively impact your experiment.

The antibody genes can then be expressed in mammalian cells to produce recombinant monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). These mAbs can then be directly labeled with fluorescent dyes or fused to other proteins to allow them to be visualized in living cells. This can allow for the investigation of processes in cells that would not be feasible with conventional methods.
